Sightpath Medical announced the launch of a new mobile service offering ophthalmologists access to a femtosecond laser, an intraoperative wavefront aberrometer and a certified laser engineer for cataract surgery, according to a news release.

The company plans to make the MoFe service suite available throughout the United States early in 2013 and will offer stop-fee and variable-cost options.

“High capital costs and technology risks are no longer barriers for surgeons to access this new market of femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery,” Jim Tiffany, Sightpath CEO and president, said in the release.

Sightpath Medical’s fleet includes more than 200 femtosecond, excimer, wavescan, YAG and selective laser trabeculoplasty lasers, along with a staff of certified laser engineers and technicians, the release said.
