The Ophthalmic ASC’s February 2015 issue featured an article about how the use of a mobile femtosecond laser for cataract surgery is both a sensible and profitable way to bring the latest technology to your ASC.
Just Roll With It

On-demand mobile surgical solutions for femto-second laser-assisted cataract surgery are allowing ASCs to plow through past barriers to make this state-of-the-art technology available to surgeons and their patients. All types of surgery centers are taking advantage of the mobile and/or rental option. These ASCs can be found in both rural and metropolitan areas and may be ophthalmic-focused or multispecialty centers. While most facilities initially take the mobile approach to phaco surgery because their beginning case volume is too low to justify purchasing a laser, some have passed the break-even point, but prefer to stick with the mobile option, appreciating its advantages.
As the first company to mobilize the femto-second laser for cataract surgery, and the only to utilize the market leading LenSx laser, Sightpath is pleased to be working with more than 200 practices across the nation to offer this state-of-the-art technology. We will perform more than 18,000 laser cataract procedures this year, making us the nation’s leading provider of this service.
