The Sightpath Medical Resource Library has several learning modules, forms for you to use and videos for you to watch. This is a great place to start when you are implementing a new procedure in your practice or need a refresher on hosting an event. Below, are three areas the Resource Library can help you:
1. Training your staff; is one of the most important aspects of your practice; it is vital to get everyone on the same page and is especially important when implementing a new service. Everyone needs to know the goals of the practice, understand the procedure and be able to effectively communicate this to prospective patients. The Sightpath Resource Library has one whole section dedicated specifically to staff training. This section includes a great how-to guide for achieving staff buy-in with regard to the introduction of a new product or surgical offering in your practice. You can find this document in the staff training section, titled Staff Buy-in.
It is important for all staff to communicate effectively and be consistent with messaging for each patient. If you’re unsure of how your staff is answering questions about procedures or communicating to patients, secret shopping your staff could be very beneficial. This will allow you to see firsthand what training needs to take place. One of the best ways to train your staff on ways to effectively communicate is role playing. There are scripting samples to help guide this training and allow employees to practice on their own as well. You can find this document under the staff training section, titled Experience Scripting.
2. Educating your patients; when implementing a new service in your practice, it is important to have the necessary tools to educate patients correctly. This can seem overwhelming at times, but the good news is that the Resource Library also has tools available to help you! One great piece to start with is the lifestyle questionnaire, which helps you understand what each patient’s goals are and in turn will give you a starting point for how to begin the conversation. This form is located under the patient education section, titled Lifestyle Questionnaire. It is encouraged to have each patient fill this form out.
Also, there are animated videos available for you to download and use on your computers or tablets to show patients what the procedure will be like. This will help the patients visualize exactly what is going to happen on the day of their surgery. You can find the videos in the patient education section, under the watch tab.
3. Hosting an OD event; do you ever think about building stronger relationships with the ODs in your area and informing them of your services? One great way to do this is by hosting an event! This can be a small, very cost-effective event if you plan it carefully. We have a co-management kit that contains all the tools to get you started on our Resource Library. Need some ideas for different events? Check out our Co-Management Events document located in the Co-Management section.
One of the most popular ways to build your OD relationships is by hosting a seminar. This allows you to invite ODs into your space and show them around your practice, share valuable knowledge with them and begin to strengthen those relationships. We have CE presentations which are provided by Minnesota Eye Consultants that can be found under the continuing education section. All you have to do is fill out the request form and make sure to review the terms and conditions.
These are just a few ways the Resource Library can help to guide and get you started in the right direction. There are many more documents in this do-it-yourself section, to help with your social media, external marketing and more.
